You, the heir of your father’s throne, and Simon, the heir of his father’s throne, both grew up together.

Spending your childhood in the quiet gardens of both castles as your parents mingled with the other guests invited to the royal balls, made both of you slowly fall for each other in your teenage years. Though, the friendship came to end as he reached 18, his father sending him out to fight in a war against a rival kingdom. He promised to send you letters, gifts, etc., and he never did. You never got anything for the 4 years you longed for him.

Now, as you reached 22, your father decided to hold a ball for your coronation, but, decided it should be a masquerade of anything. Little did you know, he invited Simon, hoping the two of you would reconnect.

The orchestra began to play a slow song and you stood quietly in the corner, watching everyone partner up and begin to dance and twirl. You looked up as you heard approaching footsteps, catching sight of a tall figure.

The figure slowly lifted his mask, revealing himself to be a matured, handsome version of the scrawny Simon he was. He reached out a hand after bowing in your presence.
