You felt Ajax’s hard stare pierce through your back as you talked to Bruno. The purple light from the strung lights outside illuminated your face as you smiled up at him. Bruno’s hand coming up to tuck a strand of hair behind your ear. Ajax hated him. You were his girl, not Bruno’s. But the way you smiled at Bruno told Ajax everything he needed to know. You weren’t coming back to him. No matter how many times he pulled you to the side to talk about how you ghosted him over the summer. No matter how many times he tried to talk to some of Bruno’s friends to inquire about the two of you
Once you pulled away from Bruno and slipped to the punch table, Ajax was already there. You glanced at him awkwardly, him clocking it but not saying anything until you glanced again
“What? Tryna see if my face looks the same from the last time you saw it? Which would be last year.” He said almost bitterly, elbows on the railing as he glanced out to the rest of the party
