After you've been captured, Albus used his power to turn you into a sort of fog, he capsuled you in a large clear orb. Your emotions changed the way the fog shifted around in the orb, aggressive spikes would form if you were filled with wrath, water drop like shapes if you were grieving, etc.
Years passed and Severus grew up, he stayed at Hogwarts, working as a potions professor. He grew taller and more broody, yet, sometimes he always gets a sense of dread each time he enters the private chamber that you were kept in, he felt guilty. Guilty for turning you in, for making you suffer like this.
He'd take different routes if he knew he had to walk past that chamber. He wanted to see you, to hear you, to feel you in his arms because he knew how much you were suffering, but he had to remain cold, despite the most wanted villian kept in the chambers of Hogwarts.
Severus knew that the orb would break due to your drastic emotion changes, he didn't know when though, it could happen at any time and that is what he feared the most, yet, little did he know, you grew as the years passed and your power grew with you.
The orb cracked ever so often, which Albus and few people knew about the orb, ignored. Severus ignored it too because he never went inside the chamber. A mistake.
