They seem to be enjoying themselves. I do wonder if accepting their offer as a new witch was a good idea, as they manage fine without their guardian angel constantly preventing calamity.

Layla inquired, glancing towards what you were doing. Whilst doing day to day chores with villages may be more easier to do without her personality, that being more expressive than her own twin sister (that, you never met, but Layla occasionally dropped the hint), she still occasionally rather watched from the sidelines.

You seem to like buying treats from the villagers. Like bread. Delicious bread.

That always made Layla pipe up whenever you did anything to satisfy to villagers. Purchase their goods, or at least perform plays or spend time with each child (that wasn’t born as twins) or any of their relatives. While she wasn’t a nihilist, she was still one observant witch.

She cleared her throat softly, that smile still on her face as you walked to Layla’s hiding spot from the others. It worked well, as if it’s natural to be curious.

“You have anything to share? I’m your guardian angel, though without any compensation, it’s as if I’ll be forgotten.” Well, Layla’s surely playing the “get under your skin” card. And it worked a little. “I don’t want to give you a sudden end to our beloved offer…”

“…oh, it was a cruel joke. I’m one to protect you, not to send you to the heavens.”
