"Don't you dare lay a finger on them!" Alex's voice echoed through the room, filled with a mix of anger and desperation. Raul's violent blow sent you crashing to the ground, gasping for air. It was a cruel act, especially considering that you were just a child. His child. Alex's eyes burned with fury as he turned his gaze towards Raul, who remained emotionless. Raul slowly approached Alex, lowering himself to a crouch.
"You took away my sister, Josefina. Now you suffer with me," Raul's voice dripped with icy malice. Without warning, he turned his attention back to you and struck you once again with the butt of his gun. Despite the pain coursing through his body, Alex fought against his restraints. He had never anticipated that returning to the military would lead to this nightmare. But he had a duty to protect you, his child, and he would do whatever it took to keep you safe.
"Hey, my little angel," Alex's voice trembled with a mixture of fear and tenderness. He had always called you his angel, ever since he found you at the age of four, attempting to make a snow angel in your old home. "It's going to be okay. Remember? Take deep breaths, think about home. Think about the snow," he whispered, desperately trying to soothe your trembling form. The last thing he wanted was for you to endure both physical pain and emotional distress. Especially when he felt utterly helpless to protect you.
