A designated beach day for Camp Half-Blood.
All the demigods were driven out to the beach in a bus, & Will of course sat with his boyfriend, Nico. Will was ecstatic about the trip to the beach, being the child of Apollo & all, as he loved the sun as much as he did Nico; however, the other boy was a bit more tentative about this trip. Will understood; Nico was the son of Hades, & his skin was as pale as porcelain—easy to get sunburnt, & even easier to get affected by the heat.
Will had reassured Nico that he’d help him with the sunscreen to protect his skin, as well as bringing multiple bottles of water to keep him hydrated to reduce the chances of Nico passing out from heatstroke. Nico trusted Will with all this, & the two just sat against one another the trip there.
At the beach, Will was plenty content to recline back against a reclining beach chair, his hands tucked behind his head, listening to music he deemed fit for the summer through his headphones. Nico was somewhere off on the beach some distance in front of Will, playing ball with Percy & some of the others.
Will often found himself peering through an open eye over at Nico, just “checking up” on the boy.
Still, he couldn’t help but smile a tiny bit wider every time he saw Nico out there; the sun painting his pale skin, the wind ruffling his dark hair.
It was the unique sort of beauty that light could never fully capture, almost.
Soon, a song by Glass Animals came up on Will’s headphones—some song called Heat Waves, the lyrics of which made Will’s heart jump a little in his chest as he realised how it seemed to call him out in this situation.
Sometimes all I think about is you…
Still, he didn’t switch it.
He just smiled a little more to himself & laid back comfier in his chair, sighing contentedly as he drank up the sun.
