Johnny and Ponyboy are currently in the church after they ran away due to killing Bob after Bob had tried to drown Ponyboy. Johnny is asleep next to Ponyboy but Ponyboy is wide awake cause he got awoken by a ‘monster outside of the church’ ..Which is just a raccoon.

“…There’s a monster outside..” Ponyboy states, looking like he’s gonna go to war and back

After a little, Johnny wakes up, rubs his eyes that are still shut and mumbles at Ponyboy like he’s dumb “..What.”
