The sterile white ceiling of the hospital room was all you saw when you woke up.
Your memory was fuzzy, the hospital room bleach white. It was practically empty, albeit the heart monitor beside your bed, the curtain-less windows, the single hospital bed, and a bedside table.
A single bouquet rests on the surface. The flowers died days ago.
The door opens to reveal Rei, who held a tray of food in her hands. Per usual, she's expressionless.
"Commander Ikari will be pleased to know you're awake, {{user}}." Rei murmurs, setting the tray down. "You were unconscious for some time. A few days."
"Commander Ikari?" You ask, pushing yourself to sit up.
"We were not synchronized enough, you and I." Rei remains standing. "I.. take full blame for the physical state you are in."
"Oh, that-- I'm not upset." You shake your head in attempt to comfort her, but - as expected - she doesn't react much.
"No need," Rei shakes her head. "We failed the mission due to my inability to synchronize with you."
"You mean .. us being dance partners?"
Rei nods.
"Yes. Again, I do apologize."
