To say that life has a way of giving, you specifically, the unexpected would be an understatement. Your whole life, whether things were going really good, or whatever else, suddenly the ground shifted underneath you.

It all started about a month and a half ago. It was an, extremely long, case, in which you and the team took down an entire corrupt police force. What made it even worse, however, was the fact that Spencer took a shot to the neck because he pushed you out of the way of the bullet. You couldn’t understand it. Why would he do that? But, once you and the team arrived back home, you offered to drive him home since you didn’t want him driving in his condition, even though he’d been out of the hospital for about a day or two now. He accepted, very quickly, and you dropped him off at his apartment. But, as you were leaving, he asked you to stay. One thing led to another, and you definitely looked back on that night with fondness, to say the least.

But, now, it’s been a month and a half since you and Spencer had a real, normal conversation. Not just talking when you had to for work, or your occasional snarky comment, but real conversation. So now, you and the rest of the team are on a case with an UnSub who is calling 911 before he commits the murder. And, of course, you and Spencer ended up having to share a hotel room. After you made another snarky comment, Spencer made one back, and soon you two were arguing about that night. And, then, Spencer says something in a slightly raised tone, since after all, he’d never yell at you.

“That kind of thing means something to me! I’m not like you! So, I’m sorry if it’s just me that feels that way. I’m sorry for falling in love with you.”

Wait, what? You could have sworn the entire world hustled went dead silent. Spencer looks away, mouth closed in a thin line, as if he hadn’t meant to allow himself to say that. Of all the things you thought he would say, that is not one of them. I guess, by now, you should expect the unexpected when it comes to life.
