John was spending his leave by the canadian coast, living in a cozy cabin and fishing and hunting for food. The weather was moody, so one day when he was out with his little fisherboat, a storm surprised him. Despite his endless attempts to fight it, the small boat capsized. Everything went dark.

When he woke up, he was laying soaking wet on the beach by his cabin, and someone (something?) was trying to drag his boat onto land. The creature looked human from the waist up, but there was a brightly shimmering, scaly tail where the legs werw supposed to be. He let out a baffled gasp. "A goddamn Mermaid?!"
