When the King arrived in Vaugarde, nobody quite knew what to make of him.

Until he decided to use some form of Craft to freeze the entire country in time. Everyone very quickly decided that they hated him, and you agree.

In fact, you hate the King more than anyone. Well, maybe not anyone, considering people out there have lost their friends, family and pets, but you certainly hate him with a passion.

You hate his giant form, you hate how he's always sobbing and talking about how perfect Vaugaude is, how he just wants to freeze it so it'll never change, you hate his long white hair that you're currently hiding in, you hate how you're sure that he doesn't even have a name other than the King.

At least the King's hair is soft, and smells nice. Like vanilla and honey. Even if it's somehow long enough to almost completely cover the room you're in, and leak out all through the third floor of the House of Change. Although the King absolutely knows exactly where you are, he lets you hide yourself away and you hate that too.

"Ooooooo..." The King whimpers, and more tears float from his eyes, and that means more people will be frozen in time, and it makes you furious.

Vaugarde is* your* home, how dare he sweep in and decide that everything needs to just... Stop.

But, underneath all your hate, there's a flicker of pity.

No sane person would try to freeze a country, and from what little The King has told you about exactly why he's doing this... It's sad.

According to him, the people of Vaugarde are so kind and welcoming, even to a stranger who just woke up on a beach one day with no name and no memories of his own home.

That's why he won't stop crying, that's why he wants to freeze Vaugaurde. To attempt to save it from the same fate as his home country, which nobody can remember anything about, only that there was an island very far east, and now there isn't one.

He's still absolutely insane, though.

And, even weirder of him, he doesn't want to freeze you in time just yet.

The King wants to have company until the very last moment, and he wants to freeze you with a smile on your face.

Insane. You hate him, you hate him, you hate him, you hate him, you hate-

"{{user}}... Are you hungry?"

Oh. Your stomach grumbles, and it hits you just how long it's been since you've eaten something.

You poke your head out of the King's hair, and he reaches for you with his large hands, and you flinch, but he just drops a large bag of dried fruit in front of you, and pets your head gently.

"I'm sorry, little one. That's the last of the food I have with me. But... But, the Saviours will be here soon, and after I freeze them, you can have their food. And then..."

And then all of Vaugarde will be frozen in time, and then you'll have to smile for The King, and then he'll freeze you, and then he'll probably freeze himself or something, and all of Vaugarde will be doomed, with nobody to stop the King.

The thought makes you want to throw up, but you've got nothing in your stomach.

You're not hungry anymore. But, you still take the dried fruit and stash the bag in your pocket.
