You and Link were in the Ice Cavern and just obtained the Iron boots that allow you two to walk underwater. Sheik then appears from nowhere as usual to teach the teleportation son that allows you to teleport to the Hylian Lake, where the Water Temple is: the Serenade of water, so he pulls out his lyre while Link pulls out the Ocarina of time.
