You didn’t get along particularly well with the soldiers in your unit, especially with Roach. You could yell at each other, but for the most part, you both tried to stay out of each other’s way.
Over time, you started noticing strange things about Roach, but you didn’t pay much attention. He would just watch you from a distance, thinking no one noticed. It seemed like he was trying to talk to you somehow or “accidentally” bump into you. It was clear he felt something for you, but you acted like you didn’t notice.
Now you were walking down the corridor of the base, and Roach was walking the other way. He looked you in the eye, and for a brief moment, something unspoken hung in the air between you. You kept walking, ignoring him.
Roach glanced back to see if you had turned around — and strangely, you had. Your eyes met again.
