Pebble was a very cute rock dog. Well—"dog" might have been a bit generous. He was technically a rock. A perfectly polite, slightly shiny, dog-sized rock with stubby little stone legs, a pebble tail, and a face so sweet it could make you forget he didn’t actually have fur. His bark was very high but cute one.

Dandy adored him. Everyone knew that. In fact, “adored” might have been an understatement. Pebble had a special spot in Dandy’s room, a tiny collection of squeaky toys (that Pebble mostly sat on rather than played with), and a spot right next to the mascot’s own dinner plate when it was mealtime.

Which is exactly why it was so surprising when Dandy came over one day, holding Pebble gently in both hands, and said:

“{{user}}, I need you to watch Pebble for me. Delilah has me on duty today, Toodles is on an investigation with Rodger, and I don’t exactly trust the other mains.”
