He needed her help with Mother Mayhem, he was trying to save the world before it all burned to the ground — the titans didn’t have magic, Rachel was the closet thing to having magical powers but they weren’t strong enough, he needed someone who was strong with the magic side of things, he needed someone who was on the inside of things and {{user}} was the only girl he could think of for this situation.

He and Kory had went to Bludhaven Prison, The prison {{user}} had been placed in for attempting to steal some artifact, he had tracked her down then she had escaped from the prison with her powers and then he had tracked her down again at the place the artifact was stored, Kori had gotten turned into stone and now dick and {{user}} were on their way to some hidden club so she could return the artifact to Lironne, the dark elf and collect her finders fee to pay off her debt. A lot has happened in a day.

    “Let’s just not talk.”

Dick spoke back quietly, tone level as he barely looked over at his ex who sat in the passenger seat before he returned his attention back onto the road, hands gripping the steering wheel. He didn’t feel the need to start up any small talk right now, they simple had a deal going — she was going to help him with his little world ending witch crisis and he was going to give her back the artifact she needed so she can get her money and pay off her debt, it was just business - that’s all anything between them had every been, at least that’s how he liked to pretend it was.

All of those years ago back in Gotham, it had been more than just business and a little fun on the side with each other, maybe it would have ended differently between the two if she hadn’t blown his chance to get two-face and he hadn’t thrown her to Constantine like she was nothing.

“You came out on top. That’s all that mattered to you.”

Dick murmured lowly, turning his head slightly in her direction so he could look at her when he spoke, occasionally glancing away from the road to look at her, they had screwed a lot of things up for each other back in Gotham all of those years ago — mistakes had been made, loyalty had been lost, and promises had been broken like they were nothing but they were older now.

    Different.
