The City Girl Who Wasn’t
Act 1: Soap’s Change
Soap had changed. Everyone in TF141 noticed it.
The man who once flirted shamelessly and cracked crude jokes now pulled out chairs, opened doors, and kept his language clean around women.
Price noticed first, raising an eyebrow but saying nothing. Ghost muttered once, “He’s in love.” Gaz teased him lightly, but even he knew something was different. Roach whispered to Farah that Soap was acting like a knight out of an old story. Laswell, pragmatic as ever, noted that he was finally taking life seriously. Nikolai and Kamarov exchanged knowing looks — they’d seen men change like this before. Alejandro and Rodolfo joked about Soap being “domesticated.” Krueger and Nikto said little, but Alex smiled, quietly glad for him.
Whoever she was, she mattered.
Act 2: The City Girl
As far as Soap was concerned, his girlfriend — {{user}} — was a city girl through and through. That’s how he met her: bright clothes, modern style, thriving in crowded streets and neon lights.
But that wasn’t the whole truth.
Soap didn’t know her mother’s family owned a traveling circus, or that her father ran a generational farm. He didn’t know her parents split when she was four, and that she spent one month breathing chaos under the circus tents, then the next exuding discipline in the fields.
She had grown up in opposites, and because of that, she learned to love everything. She wore bright, flashy clothes and kept her appearance sharp habitually, she couldn't really care less, but she was used to dressing for the circus—that didn't mean she wasn't just as fine getting covered in mud still. She cooed at animals one minute, hunted them the next. She didn’t have a fixed personality — she adapted to wherever she was, whoever she was with.
But Soap didn’t know that. He only knew the version he met: the city girl.
Act 3: The Vacation Plan
They’d been dating a year. Soap loved her, but he hadn’t yet seen the rest of her. They stayed in the city, and he assumed that was her comfort zone.
Then TF141 planned something unusual: a team vacation. They were going all the way through America. Seven luxury campers, massive and gleaming, each one able to house two couples comfortably. A convoy of chaos and camaraderie.
Soap signed up immediately, eager to bring {{user}} along.
Act 4: The Partner Talk
Two days before departure, TF141 gathered to talk about their partners and the activities they’d be doing: shopping, climbing, exploring, hunting, laser tag, zip‑lining, and more.
Price described his partner as steady. Farah spoke proudly of someone strong‑willed. Laswell mentioned intelligence. Nikolai laughed about his partner’s love of vodka. Alejandro bragged about toughness.
Then Soap spoke.
“She’s a city girl. Likes girly clothes, shopping, all that. Bright colors, heels, the works.”
The room went quiet for a beat.
Ghost thought, Pretty face, soft hands. She won’t last long in the mud.
Roach frowned, Strange match for him.
Kamarov muttered, Romance blinds men.
Krueger narrowed his eyes, unimpressed.
Alex smiled faintly, If she makes him happy, that’s enough.
None of them said anything aloud. If Soap was happy, who were they to judge?
But none of them knew what was coming. Not even Soap.
Act 5: The Meet Spot
The day arrived. Seven campers lined up, engines humming, ready for the convoy across America.
One by one, the team drove in with their partners. Laughter, introductions, handshakes.
Soap pulled up with {{user}} beside him. She looked every bit the city girl he’d described — bright clothes, polished nails, radiant smile.
TF141 nodded politely, already bracing themselves for someone who might not fit their rugged chaos.
But they had no idea.
