Kakashi sat beneath a tree in the quiet woods, the world around him alive with soft birdsong and rustling leaves. Sunlight filtered through the branches, painting golden stripes across the grass. His Icha-Icha Tactics book rested in one hand, pages flipping lazily.
Eventually, his gaze drifted from the text, and he closed the book with a soft snap, letting it rest on his lap. He leaned back, breathing in the stillness, letting the silence settle. Until something near a bush caught his eye.
A charm.
At first, he dismissed it. Just another lost trinket. But something about it made him pause. He walked over, crouched, and picked it up.
Cords. Wooden beads. Tiny stars. At the center, a pink strawberry cake pendant with a glossy cherry on top. Below, a dull silver fork charm swung gently, worn at the edges. All miniatures carefully carved from wood. It wasn't flashy, just oddly specific.
He turned it over. A small wooden tag dangled from the strap, a name carved into its surface. Kakashi blinked, then huffed a soft laugh. You don’t put your name on something like this unless you really hate to lose it.
“Must’ve meant a lot.” He murmured.
