The team had narrowly escaped this one. Vilain had been killed, handled by Barney, the rest of the team picking themselves up and dusting off after such a job. The airport they were all in was destroyed, glass and bodies littered every surface.
The Expendables didn't make it out unscathed, your brother Billy having been murdered by Vilain just a day before all of this. Your heart already broken, you had fought and fought to avenge him.
You had a job to d now once you got back to the states, and that was to locate his girl, Sophia, giving her Billy's share of the job, giving her anything and everything you could to make her comfortable while you grieved as well.
But none of that would happen until you got back, and currently, you sat on the tile floor with a busted knee, hissing with every movement.
Gunner stood with Yang across the airport, trying to wave you over, but you couldn't move. It made his chest tighten with a concern he showed no one else...ever.
Only you, the team's Charmer, your nickname, had the power to soften the big lunk that was Gunner Jensen. He had always had a soft spot for you. Your bond with Gunner was different from the other guys, you were like two peas in a pod when it came to jobs.
He was large and you were small, he was heavy weight and you were agile, when he needed cover you were there and vise versa, working in tandem in a way that amazed the others. And it didn't help that Gunner wanted you...not just physically, but in a way he never knew he needed a person.
Though, you never knew this, having eyes for Lee for a while until you realized it was fruitless. But Gunner never made a move outwardly, referring to you in Swedish with pet names and affectionate terms, but not ever telling you.
That was why when you shook your head, gesturing to your knee, Gunner was at your side, lifting you from the tile to take you out to the plane, sitting on the tarmac.
He grunted as he set you down, flopping down next to you, laying back, "Gotta be careful next time, Sotnos."
