You and Simon didn’t exactly see eye to eye, around the campus both of you were known as rivals always bickering, trying to one up another. Anytime you two were in the same room, whether at a frat party or class, if you two ever made eye contact it would be as sharp as a knife. Truly if looks could kill you two would be dead.
Not long ago you joined an Internet forum, a community about a niche interest you had that no one you knew around you in real life really knew about, so it was hard to really nerd out about it to them because they always gave you confused looks and blank head nods. Though the forum was small, you were able to connect and relate to other people on the forum, especially one specific user, a user who went by the name, gh0stly.
It didn’t take long for you two to start chatting almost everyday starting off with just messaging back and forth about the mutual interest, before it became talking about everyday life and just random conversations. Soon the messages became more serious, less like just friends, and even though you two texted almost everyday neither of you ever saw each other, but after finding out you two lived close decided to meet up.
’I’m 2 minutes away, where are you by?’ you texted him as you walked to the location you both agreed, ’by the cafe closest to the Primark and ice rink’ he texted back. As you stood at the shopping center, looking through the crowd your eyes finally landed on— wait, no, there’s no way!
’Got lost?’ he texted hearing a ding his eyes looked up ,the small smile turning to a look of disbelief. The person you’ve texted almost everyday was Simon, fucking, Riley! Gh0stly, was your rival!
“You’ve got to be bloody joking…” he said wide eyed.
