“C’mon,” Hal says, taking a seat beside you at the bar, “you miss me.”

He grins to cover up the fact he misses you a lot more. It’s only been a month since the breakup, but he wants you back. It’s pathetic, so he can’t just say it outright.

“Look, we happened to run into each other here. It’s meant to be.” He’s actually been sulking at this bar in an attempt to see you. “Just tell me you want me back.” Surely he doesn’t sound desperate.
