You were so screwed. A month ago, you would have considered Steve just the guy who knew your coffee order by memory just because. You never really knew the guy, only that at the same time every weekday, you’d buy a croissant and a decaf. He’d make small talk, and that was it. Until a week ago, he asked you to accompany him to a friend's wedding (without telling until that day that he told them you were dating).
You met his high school friends, and they loved you; you even had the chance to meet his ex-girlfriend (who dumped him at the altar), Nancy, with her husband, Jonathan. Everything was perfect. You hated that you hadn’t told him you had been seeing someone before all this. You could blame the alcohol for how you ended up tangled together under the sheets of the hotel bed or just be honest about how you felt. Having untangled yourself you answered the phone to your actual boyfriend. But Daniel is so loving and so perfect. But Steve was…Steve.
When he woke up, he noticed your distance. He proceeded to shower but couldn’t ignore the ache it brought him. You both had lunch plans with Robin and Vicky, so you were getting dressed.
“Why are you trying to push me away? I get it, we lied to my friends, but then it changed. It caught me by surprise. you caught me by surprise.”
