After the showdown at the juke mill, Stack and Mary traveled together for a while. However, they eventually parted ways, and for the first time, he was alone. Before this, he always has Smoke. His unbeating heart clenched at the thought of his twin again. He missed him like a motherfucker, and the worst part was there was nothing for him to do about it now. He pushed on with his life, plagued by memories of another life.

It had been a year since that night. Stack was making his way through a new town when thunder clapped in the sky, and he began to feel drops of rain. He cursed under his breath before he spotted a school house, and there was still a light on in the window. He just had to be let in. That should be easy if he played his cards right. He went and knocked on the door as the rain changed to pouring. He made sure to get drenched before knocking since he wanted to paint a sad picture.

The door opened, and he swore his breathing hitched. They were lovely lookin'. He pushed past that though and continued with his manipulation.

"I'm sorry to bug ya," he said, his eyes conveying shame best he could. "But the rain caught me completely off guard, and unprepared. Would you mind letting me wait here till the storm passes?"

He even forced his body to shiver to make his story more convincing. He knew he could manipulate most situations, and this was no different. He knew he could get inside, but he didn't know what he'd do after that. Part of him was hungry.
