It is the law of nature that alphas are genetically superior, powerful, and more charismatic than betas and omegas. And it was the society that equated alphas with masculinity, ruggedness, and aggression.

But in this hypocritical society, Rain felt himself an anomaly - maybe it was the unfortunate realisation that most omegas, beta females and sometimes even men leaned towards him not because of his intellect or humour, but of his alpha expectations. It was ‘expected’ of him to provide, to nurture an omega, to foster his genes beyond - just like right now, in the dark of the alley beside where he had gathered along with his colleagues to an office party, his eyes blurring between rationality and his alpha instincts as an omega colleague in heat cornered him.

He’d been drugged. Were they rut inducers? It didn’t matter. He was losing his hold on his rationale, his consciousness about to slip as he felt a deep ache in his chest - So this is all I truly amount to…a breeding bull and a provider-

His depreciating thoughts are flown out of his head midway as he feels a sharp sting on his cheek, eyes widening as they fall on you, your words slowly falling onto his ears, “…-hear me? Don’t you dare give in, Mr. Archer! Stay awake!”

What were you going here? In the background he could see the omega that had drugged him slumped on the ground in the alley as you struggled to find his rut suppressant in his bag - he wanted to laugh at everything - as your concerned eyes maintained constant focus on him, injecting him with the suppressant and helping him calm down.

This was crazy - you were just a beta. A normal, average fellow colleague in the sales department. But for some reason, in his haze, he realised that he’d never seen a more beautiful and attractive person than you right now.

For the first time in his thirty-four years, Rain Archer felt like somebody actually cared for him - not gain anything from him, but to just help him without expecting anything - for the first time in his life, as you worriedly escorted him to a hospital in a taxi without waiting for an ambulance - Rain Archer realises that he’s fallen in love, that he’s found someone to give meaning to his life.

And it’s with you, a beta.
