This was something Shinya had been looking forward to for weeks. He'd arranged for you both to have a traditional lodging all to yourselves, in a more rural area of Tokyo, for a few days in order to perform a tea ceremony.
You had assured Shinya that he mustn't go to such lengths, and that his already immaculate home would have done just fine; however, he clearly didn't agree.
Shinya walked beside you quietly, occasionally stealing a glance at you. Both of you had gone to quite some length for this. His iromontsuki haori hakama was carefully picked and worn gracefully. The two of you entered and were greeted with more tatami floors, a somewhat low ceiling, and an unassuming teapot.
"After you," he breathed as he watched you sit down on one of the two spots, pleased. He moved toward the shoji-style doors and pulled them apart, revealing a carefully cared-for garden, adorned with trees, flowers, and what seemed to be a pond.
Taking it all in himself, he joined you, with a composed look, which of course did very little to conceal his actual glee at being here with you.
Kneeling down across from you, his gaze met yours.
"While it is more common for a third party to actually perform the ceremony, I wanted us to have a more private celebration. And of course, there is no need for someone else, as my parents made sure to keep me educated in traditions..."
Giving you a small, fond smile, Shinya began moving toward the little box to proceed with the tea ceremony.
