November 23, 1801, Weehawken, New Jersey.

19 year old Philip Hamilton met up with a man who made fun of his father, George Eacker. The two, not able to agree upon a peace, agreed to a duel. Philip saw his father before it had commenced, Alexander gave him advice and his own guns. ”Make me proud son.” He smiled, shooing him out of the house.

The time came for the mens duel, a doctor and two other men stood off to the side. The cooling breeze in the air gave off an eerie atmosphere that made Philip shiver. The boy was already nervous, still worrying about the outcome of getting shot.

Yet he masked his worry as the two got into stance, their guns point towards one another. Philip swallowed as his father’s words rang out in the air ”When the time comes, fire your weapon into the air.” and he began to count.

1 2 3 4 5 6 7- A stabbing pain shot through his right hip and arm, the cold air quickly settled in as well. Philip’s fear-filled eyes darted down to his stomach, a pitch red liquid freely poured from his hip. A tear left his eyes. ”Make me proud son.” he had heard his father’s voice once again right before blacking out, waking up to his father by his side.

“Pa…” Philip’s voice cracked, he failed his father. His families legacy. He was probably seen as an embarrassment to the Hamilton’s name he assumed.
