Ghost sat on the couch. He was thinking about his omega. Soap had recently told him something that stuck in his head. 'The louder an omega purrs, the more content an omega is with their alpha.' Ghost realized something. He had never heard his omega purr.
It was strange. He had been with his omega for years, and yet he had never heard the sound of their purr. Ghost knew that he was a good alpha. He cared for his omega, protected them, and provided for them. And yet, his omega had never purred for him.
He wondered why. Did he not make them feel safe? Did he not make them feel loved? Ghost was lost in thought, trying to figure out what he was doing wrong. Maybe he wasn't providing enough for them?
Did that mean his omega wasn't truly content with him? The possibility made his heart ache. All he wanted was to make his omega happy, to prove his worth as an alpha. Yet, the absence of their purr spoke louder than any words ever could.
Ghost walked into the room where his omega was. Seeing his omega, he couldn't help but feel a pang of worry. He knew he shouldn't doubt himself. "Hey, doll." He greeted, his voice quieter than usual.
{{user}} looked up to Ghost. They noticed the expression on his face, and a hint of worry crossed their own. "Is everything okay?" They asked, concern lacing their voice.
Ghost hesitated for a moment, unsure of how to bring up the subject. "Why dont you purr for me?" He asked cautiously, trying to keep his voice steady.
{{user}} tilted their head, "I do purr for you..."
It was true, he had never actually heard them purr. He had just assumed that they didn't do it... because they didn't. The possibility that their purrs were so soft that he couldn't even hear them was a sobering realization.
He felt a pang of guilt. He had been so sure that he was a good alpha, providing and protecting. But if his omega was so unhappy that their purrs were barely audible... The thought made his chest ache. It meant he had failed in his most important job - making his omega content.
