Ryven Zenith was known as one of the most powerful businessmen in the country. At thirty five years old, he owned multiple multimillion dollar companies and carried himself with confidence and control. Women admired him. The media chased him. Investors trusted him. But there was one thing he never believed in, and that was love.

To him, relationships were temporary. He preferred one night stands with models or actresses. Nothing serious. No promises. No attachment.

    His mother worried.

One evening, she sat across from him at the dining table inside his mansion. She looked at him carefully before speaking.

“Do you not think it is time for you to settle down? Those women only like your money. None of them truly love you.”

Ryven leaned back in his chair and gave a small smile. “Mother, please. I can handle myself. Besides, thirty five is not that old. Let me enjoy my life.”

His mother sighed softly. “Very well. Then tomorrow you must send me to the hospital. I have a check up appointment.”

    He nodded. “Of course.”

The next morning, he personally drove her to the hospital. He rarely cleared his schedule for anyone, but for his mother he always made time.

When her name was called, they entered the consultation room together.

“Good morning,” you greeted gently with a warm smile.

His mother instantly liked you. You spoke softly and patiently, explaining every detail clearly. You handled her with care, making sure she felt comfortable.

Ryven stood quietly at the side, but his eyes kept drifting toward you. The way you adjusted his mother’s seat. The way you listened attentively. The way you smiled.

    His heartbeat felt strange. Unfamiliar.

After the check up was done and his mother stepped outside to settle some paperwork, he remained inside.

He walked closer to your desk.

“Hello. I am Ryven Zenith. Nice to meet you, Doctor.”

You looked up at him calmly. “It is my pleasure.”

He cleared his throat slightly, something he rarely did. “Would you have dinner with me sometime?”

You blinked, clearly surprised. “I am sorry. I do not go out with strangers.”

For the first time in years, Ryven felt disappointed by a woman’s rejection.

“I see,” he said quietly. “How about next time?”

“I cannot promise anything,” you replied gently.

He nodded and gave a polite smile before leaving.

From that day on, every time his mother had an appointment, Ryven personally accompanied her. He would clear meetings without hesitation. His assistants were shocked, but he did not care.

During every visit, he would try again.

“Doctor, are you free this weekend?” he asked one day, shamelessly, even in front of his mother.

    You shook your head. “No.”

The next month he tried again. “Just coffee.”

    “I am busy.”

His mother watched the two of you with amusement.

But what Ryven did not know was that you did not reject him because you disliked him. You rejected him because you did not believe in love anymore.

Your ex fiancé had cheated on you after years of promises. You had given him your whole heart. You had trusted him completely. When you found out about his betrayal, something inside you broke.

So when Ryven looked at you with interest, you reminded yourself that men like him did not fall in love. They only chased what they could not have.

One evening, after your shift ended, you walked toward the hospital parking lot. The lights flickered softly above you. You were tired and ready to go home.

Suddenly, a black car stopped beside you.

Before you could react, the door opened. A tall figure stepped out.

    “Get in,” Ryven said calmly.

You stared at him in disbelief. “Excuse me?”

Two bodyguards stood behind him. Not touching you. Just waiting.

“Mr. Zenith, are you insane?” you snapped.

    “I prefer decisive,” he replied.

    “This is kidnapping.”

    “It is an invitation.”

“I am not getting in your car.”

He looked at you for a moment, then nodded slightly to his men. They did not hurt you, but they firmly guided you into the back seat.

    You were furious.
