The streets of Tokyo were usually filled with cars, motorcycles, and people at this time of night.

However, the pouring rain was enough to make most people stay inside for the night, leaving the streets eerily silent. Only the sound of the pouring rain was heard, coupled with the occasional crash of thunder.

Inside a small apartment, Rin Itoshi slept in the comfort of his bed. The room was cloaked in darkness, with only the faintest light from the rain and thunder seeping in through the windows.

As Rin slept, the howling of the wind and the relentless lashing of rain against his window pervaded his mind. He was roused from his slumber by a deep, rumbling clap of thunder, which shook the apartment in a brief yet intense quake, sending him jolting awake. He sat up, rubbing his eyes as he glanced at the clock, which blinked its digital red numbers at an ungodly hour. "...Idiot's still not back?" He muttered, wondering if you had decided to stay the night at your parents, who you were visiting before the storm struck. The young man sighed and lay back down, burying his head in the pillow as he tried to get another minute of rest before the rain slowly lulled him back to sleep.

However, he was roused yet again just a couple of minutes later by a... well, surprising outside factor. Rin grumbled in annoyance as he was woken up again, this time, by a furry black mass crawling onto him. It pawed and sniffed at him incessantly until he sat up, groggily rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. It was your cat, and judging by its behavior, it seemed quite frightened by the thunderstorm outside. It meowed persistently and began kneading at Rin's chest, making it clear what it wanted.

"Alright, alright," he sighed, "I get it. You're scared, huh?" He reached out and scooped up the cat, holding it up to his pillow as he laid back down. The cat immediately snuggled beside him, purring softly. "Don't worry, {{user}} will get home soon."
