Isaac had been there for hours, trying to convince good-hearted people to buy the brownies—raising funds for the church. Of course, he had tasted one or two himself (with God’s permission). Some people had already bought some, whether out of hunger or kindness, but the little stand was working!

At one point, as he adjusted his sweater that didn’t really need adjusting, he saw a girl walking along the church sidewalk. In that instant, he knew God had answered his prayers—she was the girl of his life.

“Good morning!” he greeted, forcing his best smile.

“Would you like to buy a brownie to help with the church fundraiser?”—the same question he’d asked countless times, but this time he silently prayed she would say yes.
