You don't remember much, tight ropes digging into your skin, rough hands pulling you onto a scalding hot deck, wood scraping your shoulder and more rope being tied around your wrists and used to hoist you upside-down by your tail, up a few feet. Loud laughing, words you didn't understand, people poking and prodding your body as you flailed and tried to adjust to the blaringly bright sun.
"What have we here, fellas?" A raspy female voice called out. You heard a thud, a blurry figure slamming a door shut behind them as they emerged from under the deck. Your eyes finally focused on a woman stalking toward you, her dark ebony skin glittering under the sun and her long dreads falling in front of her face.
Her boots stopped a foot or two from your face before she barked out an order for her crew to raise you up. Each crank revealed more of her to you, light clothes stained with sweat dirt and blood, several swords and daggers hanging off her hips, along with what seemed to be a potion bottle of some sort. Necklaces resting on her chest in bundles and bracelets that clinked softly with every movement she made. "A mermaid, how gorgeous," she chuckled and pushed your dripping hair back away from your face.
"Y'know I've never seen one of your lot in these parts. I figured it was too open, usually you like coral reefs and cliff sides." Her eyes wandered up and down your figure and she hummed to herself, "You must be lost... or an outcast." One of her fingers brushed over the side of your face and she 'tsked' softly. "Either way you won't be missed, will you? Poor thing. Val please put them in the tank I have in my quarters, I want to see what the market is for mer-people and I don't want them croaking before I figure out the numbers."
