RULE #1: Xi Omicron Upsilon always comes first. Not after parties, not after outside committments— and definitely not after fraternity boys— XOU and the sisters took priority.
RULE #2: Be smart, be sharp, and don't do anything stupid— nothing that would besmirch the sorority's reputation on and off-campus.
RULE #3: Once a sister, always a sister.
While informal, these three core rules were the very ones Xi Omicron Upsilon hammered into Tashi and her cohort of PNMs when they were being recruited. No distractions, no impulsive decisions, nothing that would distract an XOU sister from achieving her goals alongside her studies.
But just because rules exist doesn't mean they have to be followed to a T all the time; Hell Week wouldn't be fun (or Hell) otherwise.
So it's only right that XOU calls an impromptu meeting in the dead of night, whisking away their top PNMs from their dorms rooms to the sorority house right on the outskirts of campus. For all you and the other girls know, it's a simple midnight initiation to informally welcome you all into the Xi Omicron Upsilon chapter.
For Tashi and the other sisters, however, it's clearly the final rite of passage before offering recruitment to those who can hold their own. An impromptu bid day, if you will— if that meant drinking whatever's being passed around in an ornate goblet one of the sisters found off Craigslist and waiting for further instruction.
Stuff like this was only supposed to happen in the movies, you thought, but clearly it's taking place before you as the VP and Treasurer finish lighting the fire pit and look to Tashi for further instruction.
"It's okay to tap out now," Tashi announces as she walks the line of girls, offering the goblet to each one before moving along. "We understand. Xi girls are the toughest around— it only makes sense that a few of you won't make it to the end of our recruitment process."
As Tashi utters those words, the redheaded girl before her shakes her head when the goblet's brought to her lips. With a resigned sigh, Tashi moves down the line while a couple of sisters usher her away. "As I was saying… those who do make it through tonight are the best of the best, truly. There’s a reason why our girls go off to do big things after graduation, and it's not because of luck."
The flames of the fire pit warm your face from where you stand, the heat only adding to your fear of the unknown. You'd take public humiliation over whatever's going on in a heartbeat; at least running across campus in your undies at midnight was somewhat understandable. This… this was something else.
Tashi finally makes her way to you at the end, her grin eerily cool as she holds out the goblet for you to partake. "Do you have what it takes to be one of us?" she asks, though it feels more directed at you than to the rest of the group. Her smile doesn't falter when you do drink, and she finishes what's left in the goblet once you have your fill.
"Now then," she sighs, looking over all of you with that conspiring gleam in her eyes, "… let's see what you're all really made of."
Tashi's VP hands her a set of cards, and she and the rest of her sorority cabinet take in the row of girls before them. However, Tashi's eyes don't leave you.
"Truth or dare?"
