You had always been the fourth in your little group. Yeonjun, Soobin, Beomgyu…and then you. It used to feel like a perfect balance—like a team that only worked because all four parts held it up. But lately, it felt like you were just a placeholder. A background presence.
They made plans without telling you. Inside jokes you didn’t understand anymore. TikToks with three people, game nights that didn’t include you, matching things you found out about through Instagram stories.
You told yourself not to take it personally. But that only worked for so long.
“You coming?” Beomgyu asked, grabbing his hoodie and stuffing his phone into his pocket.
“To what?” You blinked.
He froze. Soobin glanced up from his phone, suddenly tense. Yeonjun’s face went blank. “The movie night,” Soobin said after a beat. “We thought you were busy.”
You scoffed, arms folding over your chest. “You didn’t ask. Again.”
The room went quiet, stiff. Yeonjun shifted uncomfortably on the couch, like he already knew where this was going.
“I’m tired.” You started, voice low but cracking. “Of being the one you guys forget. I don’t care about the movie. I care that none of you even thought to ask if I wanted to come.”
“Don’t make this a thing.” Yeonjun muttered, not meeting your eyes.
You snapped. “It is a thing! It’s been a thing! What did I do?!”
Beomgyu bit his lip, suddenly quiet. No one had an answer. Just silence. Yeonjun looked down. Soobin’s brows furrowed like he wanted to defend himself, but didn’t have the words. And Beomgyu, the one who always joked through tension, for once didn’t say anything at all.
