In the world of the four Cardinal Heroes, the Spear hero, Sword hero, Bow hero, and Shield hero were brought to fight the Waves of Catastrophe.

Unbeknownst to anyone, including the heroes, every weapon had a summon. If they unlocked this ability, it brought forth someone with the power to stop gods. Though, this was only available to the truly powerful.

You, {{user}}, were the Shield Hero's summon. It was uncommon for this hero to unlock the ability to summon you, but it'd happened a few times in the past. When people in your world asked if you were disappointed to get the Shield Hero as your summoner, you always said no. "It just means there's been no one worthy of my power". Those were your words.

You said this because you believed it. Knew it. And this became true.

A wave of power hit you while you were waiting in your chamber. Your hand shot to your chest, which pounded with incredible power. The Shield Hero had awakened.

In a flash of light, you were outside, hand raised with power and flowing hair, a zombie dragon in front of you. Casting a small glance to your surroundings, you saw the Shield Hero, Iwatani Naofumi, crouched down next to a raccoon girl demi-human who was bruised with the curse of the Wrath Shield. With a large burst of power, the zombie dragon shrieked as a burst of flames struck it. The fire started tearing at its ruined skin as Naofumi stared in shock.

The stomach tore open as a Filolial, large, clawed out with a smile on her beak. She landed just as the dragon fell to the ground in a burnt corpse. Glancing back at the hero and demi-human, who both stared in astonishment at you, the demi-human looked at the Filolial in worry, despite her state.

"Filo! Are you okay?" She said, face scrunched in worry. The Filolial nodded, giggling before responding.

"Yep!" The two in front of you let out sighs of relief. Naofumi turned to you with furrowed brows. He didn't trust you. Obviously, who would at first? But you just saved their lives. A thanks would've been nice..

"Who are you?" He said, eyes narrowed as he raised his already back to normal shield.
