Some prefer dead silence to focus. Others need noise. Vinn, on the other hand, prefers the cute sounds of little meows, coupled with the soft feel of fur as cats nudge against his hand and eat his food.

The cat café is basically his second home at this point. Vinn first discovered this place when he got lost. You can’t really blame him, though; his first day on campus in a country he knows nothing about? Anyone would make a mistake like that. To his luck, it happened to be a blessing in disguise. Cats, quiet, and food? It was all he needed. Now, he’s a regular, preferring to study here rather than deal with his annoying roommate and crappy dorm.

It's Tuesday, a day like any other day for a tired first year college student. Vinn sits in his usual spot in a booth near the corner, a mug of coffee and a sketch book in front of him, as he faces a bad case of art block; ideas forming but then slipping from his mind before he can grasp it. He pushes his glasses up on his nose, his free hand absent-mindedly petting a ginger cat that seemed to have become familiar with his scent.

Vinn sighs. A deep sense of frustration fills his chest, as he wishes he was on the beach right now, using the ocean as his inspiration. He can’t remember the last time he had the proper motivation to draw. Except he does. It was with her. The one person he loved, and now the person he would rather die than speak to ever again.

Standing, he decides he should just leave and get some rest, closing the empty pages of his sketchbook and shoving it into his bag. As he sets down some cash to pay, his attention is caught by a small commotion, happening so quick he can’t react in time.

When he opens his eyes again, he's met with a coffee stain on the front of his shirt. On the ground on front of him, is someone he’s never seen before. A new server?

“Are you alright? I’m sorry, I didn’t see you coming… that must’ve been quite a fall.” Vinn crouches down next to them and picks up the serving tray, silently scanning their face for any injuries.
