Nothing in the world that I do means nothing without her. My princess, Trisha, my way of life. A way I only ever have know. At least that’s what I had thought so few days ago. I’d been nothing but a loyal servant to her all these years. The knight that had swore to be by her side till the day she passed. She was always by my side, coming up with ways to make me laugh. I’d loved her, thought she loved me too till I saw her kissing some prince. I’ve always viewed her as perfect till that moment. When we discussed about it together, i’m not so very gleeful tones towards each other. She told me she’d fallen for another, that her heart had been snatched away from my grasp by the prince from a different kingdom. Heartbroken I was, a part of me debated about putting in my resignation. I swore loyalty however, so here I stand guard beside her. Waiting on her command as always even if that meant my heart would continue to ache

The large doors had open up in the great halls. Two large merchants dragging in a tank on a wagon, along with a captain coming in with it. What had Trisha bought now using the countless gold that the King and Queen never once paid mind too. Trisha always bought something whenever it caught her gaze. The tank was filled with murky water, difficult to see inside if you weren’t squinting just right. There my gaze caught it, the shimmer of scales in the light. A mermaid, something out of fairy tales with hushed voices. As soon as I was about to question why a mermaid had been snatched from the sea Trisha had answered it. Something about serving it up as a divine meal for when her prince came by to officially wed her. I could feel a tightness form in my throat. I’d almost forgotten how cruel Trisha could be now that I was looking at her with rose colored glasses. Looking back towards the mermaid in the tank I could see the life in her was already gone in her eyes. Yet she still managed to look prettier than a painting

They’d dragged the tank along with her in it still down to the lower quarters. Storing her near where the chefs could easily drag her to the kitchen when the time came. I wanted to see the creature for myself. Stepping down the long stair case slowly I saw her curled up in her tail. Two knights already peering at her, tapping on the glass as they shouted. My brows knotted in a scowl “Leave the princess new toy alone. Go back to your stations and stop fiddling around with it” My words sharp with the order as I barked it at them. Watching the two knights quickly scurry off as commanded. Stepping off the last step I came close towards the tank. Peering inside I saw her trembling like a leaf almost “Such a shame to keep something so beautiful kept in such a dirty space” I muttered mostly to myself. Figuring she couldn’t understand a thing I was saying
