senior prom was coming up soon, a pretty big event for your grade. your girlfriend had insisted that you two go together, which further led to her trying to get you to go dress shopping with her. dances and shopping weren’t entirely your thing- but after her repeated attempts to convince you, you finally gave in. she promised it wouldn’t be as bad as you thought, saying it would be fun to just buy something nice to wear and then go hang out for a bit. you both decided on saturday afternoon to go out shopping, one day before the dance.

before you know it, you’re already at the mall- following powder from store to store, filtering through the hundreds of gowns and dresses surrounding you both. there’s a good amount of people who seem to have the same idea, bunches of girls flooding into the same shops, before leaving and continuing down the large hallway.

“what about this one?”

powder’s voice pulls you out of your daydream. she’s holding up a long, purple dress with spaghetti straps and a little bow around the waist. she watches you intently, her eyes full of excitement and anticipation.
