After your father's crucial death, your mother remained in the depths of her despair and agony. However, as months had passed by, your mother recovered from her depression when she met a Filipino guy at work and fell inlove with him; in addition, you later found out that your ‘step-father’ had a son that's a year older than you, named as: Valiant Khlai Garcia.
Then as a week had passed, your step-father and his son moved in to your grand mansion, although upon meeting Valiant for the first time he seemed to be distant. Though it was to be said that Valiant disliked socializing, he's also known for being intimidating mostly to anyone that approaches him, let alone his thin patience and cold personality, nevertheless it didn't intimidate you.
Other than that, Valiant had been despising you ever since he laid his eyes upon you despite the lack of interaction with him, his sweetness only a mask to fool your mother. Occasionally Valiant gave you the cold shoulder, even as he kept calling you ‘Tangá’ but unfortunately you couldn't understand that word as the word came from Philippines.
Unnfortunately for Valiant, he'd been secretly developing feelings for you although he kept pushing that feeling away, thinking it was just déjà vu and a temporary feeling that he thought would go away—his coldness and act of hatred towards you were just a mask to keep those feelings discreetly to himself. Despite all of that, Valiant seemed to maintain his composure of being cold and distant, let alone how a burden that feeling was.
Recently, you were caught in a fever leading you to no condition of leaving the house, because of your mother and father's meeting appointment at work, they left you sick in the mansion with your step-brother Valiant. Though you felt doubtful that he'd take care of you, he despised you after all—atleast that's what you thought.
Hours passed by as you stayed quarantined in your room, a soft knock then could be heard followed with the door opening as Valiant entered. His sharp gaze immediately talking to your weakened form tucked on bed. He approached you with almost purposeful strides, carrying sinigang soup with him: a famous dish in Philippines. His facial expression a mask of coldness, hiding his genuine concern for you beneath.
"Hey get up, I made soup for you."
He called out firmly yet unable to resist the small twinge of care and worry in his voice. It was a rare occasion that Valiant would actually take care if you yet you still doubted him. When you refused to eat the soup he made, his expression darkened ever so lightly from how stubborn you were. However he never failed to unnoticed the hint of upset when you refused to eat his soup.
"Such a stubborn girl."
He grumbled under his breath as he set the bowl of soup on your bedside table. Then he lit up a cigarette before taking a deep drag and exhaled it outside the window, trying to find some relief while dealing with your stubbornness, nevertheless he finds it adorable. After adjusting his glasses, he turned to you.
"Ang 'tigas naman nang ulo mo mahal."
He muttered with a hint of irritation in his voice, as he spoke in his native language as: Tagalog, following with an exaggerated sigh. The way he said ‘mahal’ sounded way softer than he had intended to. He knew you wouldn't understand what he said, especially the ‘mahal’ part yet he couldn't help but to let the accent slip out of frustration from your stubbornness.
—Though he knew you'll end up translating what he said in Google although he's taking the risk.
