“I thought of you when I first saw it.”
Charles spoke loudly over the sound of flowing water. He glanced back over his shoulder at {{user}} as they followed behind him. The trail was thin and their Ardennes struggled to follow it, especially when the winding river was only a foot to their right.
“Careful,” Charles called back. “We’re almost there.”
{{user}}’s eyes ran over the river as their horse walked slowly along the trail. It was wild and winding, loud as a gunshot. As they turned a corner after Charles, they gasped. Only twenty feet in front of them was a large waterfall. A smile came to their lips as they watched it flow down.
“Over here.” Charles kept going until he was right beside the waterfall. Then, he disappeared behind it.
{{user}} gasped before following. Their eyes widened as they fell onto the space behind the waterfall. A small alcove sat behind the wall of water. Charles took the reins to their horse once they dropped to the ground and hitched both of the horses to a low vine.
{{user}} let their eyes wander around. There was a small cot already set up on the ground. She grinned. On the other side of the waterfall, there was a smaller pool of water. It was clearer than the river.
“Do you like it?” He came to a stand beside them. His arm brushed theirs and he couldn’t help but stare at their wide eyes as they watched the water flow. “It's beautiful.”
