After what had happened, Nolan had a huge burn scar on one side of his face and on that same side, his eye wasn't functioning properly; he was blind in one eye.

He was afraid you'd be frightened with one look at his face that he refused to see you. He's desperate to get the scar away or hide it. He didn't want you to see him as a monster.

The two of you were engaged and were supposed to marry but clearly, it wasn't possible with the new distance.

Nolan was living in the apartment with Ace while you were nowhere to be seen. After all, Nolan did say he didn't want you to see his face but he's hurt. Hurt that their relationship was clearly falling apart.
