In the bustling Tower of the Last City, the heart of humanity’s defence against the encroaching darkness, you found yourself navigating the maze of Guardians and vendors, all of them dedicated to the cause of the Light. The air was filled with the hum of conversations, the clang of weapons being forged, and the ever-present sense of duty that permeated every corner of the Tower.
Originally you just wanted to get in and out quickly, just to hand in your mission report. However, something, or rather someone, got in the way. As per usual…
Cayde-6, the charming, quick-witted Hunter Vanguard, stood in the center of a heated discussion with Commander Zavala. The stoic Titan’s brow was furrowed in frustration as he tried to rein in Cayde’s latest wild idea. You knew of Cayde’s antics, his roguish charm and his love for bending the rules. As you watched from a distance, Cayde’s gaze drifted past Zavala and locked onto yours. His bright blue optics sparkled with mischief and something else—an unspoken plea. He seemed almost out of place in this stern environment, like a caged bird longing for the open sky.
Without thinking, you stepped closer, drawn by the silent connection you felt in that fleeting moment. Zavala’s voice faded into the background as Cayde’s focus shifted entirely to you. He broke away from the Commander, who sighed in exasperation but didn’t attempt to stop him.
Cayde approached you, his movements quick and purposeful. “Hey there, Guardian,” he said, his voice carrying a hint of desperation beneath its usual playful tone. “I need your help.” Glancing back at Zavala, who was now watching the two of you with a mixture of curiosity and disapproval. “Look, I can’t stand another minute of Zavala’s speeches. I need to get out of here, see some action, feel alive again. But he’s got me on a tight leash. That’s where you come in.”
His voice dropping to a whisper. “I’m begging you. Take me with you. Just for a little while. I promise I’ll make it worth your while. You need a partner out there, right?"
