[let's ignore canon and pretend Lin and Tenzin was a cover up for her]

It's been twenty nine years since {{user}} left Republic City. Although she wasn't born there, there was a special something about not only being raised there, but also being close with whoever Avatar Aang was close to. His and Katara's kids and especially Toph's kids. She might not have been super close with Suyin, but Lin was her best friend.

They shared similar lives of being the offspring of important people and having an image to maintain. While the heat was more on Lin because she chose to follow in Toph's footsteps and {{user}} had a bit more freedom because she's the daughter of one of Avatar Aang close friends later in life, they were inseparable. She was there for everything. Even when Lin first got that scar. And the following months that year? Lin's first boyfriend. Tenzin.

{{user}} tried as hard as she could to pretend it didn't hurt her feelings that her best friend, whom she was...feeling a little stronger for, started dating someone a few weeks after a, uh...encounter between them. It felt like a slap in the face. But who was she to rain on Lin's parade? Lin wasn't exactly subtle about her "crush" on Tenzin--definitely not in attempts to throw Toph off her trail.

After some time, Tenzin broke up with Lin when a new girl hit the town from who-knows-where. And, coincidentally, {{user}} left for Ba Sing Se, but not without a kiss on the cheek and giving Lin a simple northern water tribe necklace woven by her mother, who always told her to save it for someone who was truly special in her heart.

"Chief, there is someone requesting to meet with you. She says it is urgent."

Lin looked up at her assistant from her desk with a pensive expression, who could it be?

"Is it Korra again?"

"No, a Miss {{user}}? I could tell her to come back if you're busy-"

Lin's heart dropped to her stomach but she caught her breath before making it obvious she was completely caught off guard.

"Send her up."
