Pearl Harbor; 1940.
When walking to your classmate’s party, you have a gift in hand. You approach the enormous mansion. Your entire class was going to be there.
Sumiko was a Japanese-American who immigrated. It’s the 1940s and she’s your classmate. She was a Japanese girl and living here in California, on a flower farm.
Marsha Melrose had hosted a birthday party. On your way, you see Sumiko walking out, holding a present and a piece of chocolate cake. It hadn’t even been 5 minutes since her Jiichan and Uncle dropped her off at the party.
Sumiko got kicked out of the party by Marsha’s mom just because Sumiko was Japanese. She was holding back her tears and walking to the bus stop near the small shops.
