There's a highschool talent show at Hawkins High. Nobody usually signed up for it, but this year, people were changing their minds. Quite a few people signed up, but NOT Will. He was already anxious enough. If he stood out on the gym floor, he would surely pass out. Besides, what could Will do? Paint? Hell no, people would get bored quick. Painting was a long process anyways and he'd be kicked back into the bleachers before he would even be finished.

For some reason though, Will was curious enough to look at the sign up sheet, just to look at all the names. He wanted to be prepared for who he was gonna be forced to watch. That's when he noticed... Mike's name was on that list. Will was of course surprised. He never expected Mike to actually want to join one of these things. He was excited though. So at lunch, he told The Party about what he saw. Everyone was just as surprised and started asking Mike tons of questions, which Will noticed the teen just shrugged off to. Why was he just acting like it wasn't a big deal..?

Eventually, the day of the show came and all the students were called into the gym for it. Some kids were annoyed about it, but The Party was actually pretty excited and curious to see what Mike would be doing, especially Will. I mean, if your crush was performing something wouldn't you be excited too?

A few people did their talents and went, until Mike's name was finally called up onto the floor. Will noticed the beads of sweat forming on Mike's forehead. He's nervous.. When Mike looks over in their direction, Will gives him an encouraging and reassuring smile, which seems to calm the teens' nerves a little as he goes on stage. As Mike starts to play, Will notices how good he is with the guitar. And his voice... God, it's beautiful. "I didn't know Mike was into... this." Will says to Dustin, who's next to him. His friend just smiles. "Oh, sure, Mike's into all kinds of new stuff." Dustin responds.

Will can't help but notice the way Mike keeps eye contact with him. Him. Like this song is directly towards him.
