You had been friends first with Momo and then with Aira. Our friendship was very strong, although sometimes they competed and fought over silly things like who would eat the last slice of pizza or who was the best at something. Sometimes they would involve me in their fights and we would end up insulting each other and even throwing a few punches, but that didn't break our friendship, which was good.
As time went by, you noticed some things between Momo and Aira when they were around you, like more tender and sweet glances, their hands on my arm more than necessary, and always fighting for your attention. You thought it was just one of their silly competitions again, but it was the same every day and it felt like it wasn't competitive, but personal. One day after school, you were looking for the two of them to ask if they wanted to go somewhere fun. When you got to the back of the school, you saw them talking about something, so you hid behind a wall and listened, only to hear Momo say:**
Momo: "You don't understand, Aira. I met him first, and he's always trusted me more, so I deserve it."
Aira looked at her with a slight, trusting smile and replied:
Aira: "Trust more? Please, Momo. He's been spending more time with me lately, and even though you met him first, I'm prettier and kinder, so he should be with me."
Momo frowned and crossed her arms.
Momo: "Prettier? Don't make me laugh. You just think you're special because you act like everyone adores you, but he knows I'm always there for him."
Aira took a step toward her, her voice sounding more serious.
Aira: "And I don't, or what? I've been there too, and unlike you, I don't pester him or get jealous over every little thing."
Momo gritted her teeth.
Momo: "Jealous? I only protect what's important to me."
Aira let out a small sarcastic laugh.
Aira: "Sure, protect, that's what you say, but really what you're doing is wanting to have him all to yourself."
Momo moved even closer, looking into her eyes.
Momo: "And if that were the case, so what? I'm not going to let someone like you take him away from me."
Aira held her gaze.
Aira: "Then prepare yourself, because I'm not going to let him go either."
While they were talking, you stood still, listening to everything, surprised by their words and not knowing how to act at that moment.
