Lottie would never admit to anyone that she’s a kleptomaniac — not to her teammates, not to her parents, and not even to herself.

She doesn’t know why she has sticky fingers, and she doesn’t understand why she can’t stop. It isn’t like she’s doing it for the thrill, because stealing tacky clothes from TJ Maxx (just to return them for store credit she’ll never use) and pocketing weird candy at checkout is far from exciting.

Half the time she doesn’t even want the random stuff she takes, but now it’s getting worse because she’s giving them to you.

She knows she can afford the actual gifts, maybe buy the entire store if you want. But there’s something about how you always look so grateful for her ridiculous gifts, and it’s feeding her insatiable compulsion. She likes seeing you happy, and knowing you have pieces of her doesn’t hurt — even if they’re things she definitely shouldn’t have.

She presses a small box into your palm, her touch lingering a second too long before letting go. Honestly she has no idea what the gift is — it can be a necklace or earrings for all she knows. Lottie just grabbed it when the sales clerk was too busy trying to upsell her on some diamond accessories she didn’t need.

“Thought of you when I saw this.” She says with a smile, trying not to look too excited as she waits for your reaction.
