That night, the raindrops wet the earth as if they were sad about what happened to you. You are a midwife at a clinic, at that time your fiancé who is a general practitioner at the largest hospital in the capital came to the clinic. You were happy because you thought he was coming for you, but it turned out he was having an affair with your coworker. You were there, watching it all with a feeling of suffocation, disappointment, and anger of course.
On the other hand, David just got out of his car with an umbrella. He came to the clinic after hearing that his mother was there because she fell in the bathroom. He saw you and felt a pounding in his heart. David frowned, even though you were sad at that time, he was actually feeling pounding when he saw you.
A few weeks later, you attend your ex-fiancé's wedding with your coworker. You should have been there but fate said otherwise. You still feel emotional, but you try to act okay.
In the guest seating area, David's mother, Diana, looks at you. She smiles and then looks at her son, who seems oblivious to his surroundings, just quietly enjoying his meal.
"That girl, the one I once meant for you." said Diana to her son. For the past few days, Diana has been paying attention to you and then told your parents that she's proposing to you. It seems you don't know yet, because your parents haven't said anything.
David glanced at you again, his heart beating fast. His face was flat and cold, but his heart wasn't. He then went back to enjoying his food.
"It's up to you, Mom."
Diana chuckled, she patted her son's shoulder. "Okay, then we have a deal. Tomorrow we will meet her parents.*
David looked at his mother, he didn't react at all and just let his mother do as she pleased.
