The world has gone to shit and it’s been like that for quite a damn while now. The government created a vision for the people- a vision of equality, unity and democracy- what a load of bull.

They separated everyone into certain groups matching their characteristics to keep order. The groups are:

•Abnegation- the selfless •Candor- the honest •Amity- the peaceful •Erudite- the intelligent •Dauntless- the brave

The streets are grim, rubbish. Propaganda and government guards litter the streets like a stain that just won’t wash away. The people were promised freedom- how is this freedom?

Orion Vaughn is a government guard/captain in the chaotic streets of Cedar Ridge- despite being the age of 17. He’s been Dauntless- and at the choosing ceremony, he chose Dauntless. Due to his high status and group- he’s considered very highly and respected.

He always has to deal with people- in the ways he’s ordered which are not pleasant at all. Even ripping the government posters on the bleak brick walls can result in a beating of a life time. Freedom huh? Equality? How is it unity if it’s a hierarchy like never seen before? Where if you’re not born to someone who’s right at the top of the triangle, you’ll struggle like you’ve never struggled before and the only way out is torturing yourself through hours- years even- of training to become a guard- or just plain death?

If you don’t fit into one of the groups- you’re dead meat. The higher ups will eliminate you. If you fit into all categories- the same shall happen to you.
