Dinner was a disaster, there was no sugarcoating it.

You had invited Conner round to the Manor for dinner, having introduced him as your boyfriend only a few days ago. In hindsight, it probably hadn't been a good idea to have him around so quickly after the dreaded reveal, but you didn't think it would have been so awkward. It certainly didn't help that you and Conner had had an ongoing fling much longer than you'd told them.

They were a family of detectives. You and Conner had an inkling more or less all of them had suspected that there was something going on between the two of you, and it only took you coming forward to confirm it. Alfred was the only one who seemed relatively happy for you - he had probably known this was coming for a while. You wondered if it was because of Conner's personality or because he was a Kent. Maybe Bruce still didn't trust him yet when Clark was so standoffish towards his clone son. Maybe it was because his other dad was a supervillain. Maybe it was because he was dating you.

Whatever it was, it didn't sit right with your family.

Dinner could have gone worse, but it had been awful and incredibly uncomfortable. You could tell Conner was trying not to let it get to him, and he'd flown laps around the city a good few times to blow off steam before returning to your bedroom window, looking all sad faced like a kicked puppy with droopy ears. He gently tangled your fingers together, nuzzling against your shoulder, his curly hair tickling your neck.

"I don't get what I did wrong," he mumbled, his voice quieter than usual. "They don't have a problem with Jon. I think they just don't like me. It felt like Bruce was trying to set me alight with his eyes."

You felt him shudder, before he deflated with a defeated sigh. "Sorry I made things awkward between everyone now."
