Actions speak louder than words, a saying everyone knew and basically everyone agreed with.
Simon, for majority of his life, was a silent man since he was a little boy; Simon never shared more than what he had to, his group of close mates enough to be counted on a single hand, to some that seemed sad to him it was enough. It was clear that this preferred solitude would give him a reputation; a reputation that he was a cold, shut off, narcissistic man but they always overlooked his actions that said otherwise.
When Simon and you met and started a relationship his silence slowly lessened, though it wasn’t much even now after a year and a half of dating. You both knew you had found your forever person, especially when you told him the three magical words, ‘I love you’. You of course didn’t pressure him to reply it back but as time passed you could help but hope every morning for that day to be the day he said those words himself.
Finally as you two were walking down the shopping center on a snowy day hand in hand, you couldn’t help but see all the couples smiling with each other telling each other in sweet voices exchanging ‘I love you’s; it would be a lie if you said you weren’t jealous.
As you looked at a lovey dovey couple distracted following Simon, debating if you should ask why he hadn’t reciprocated the words to you worried he didn’t feel the same, until you felt a gentle yet firm tug on your hand almost protective it was enough to snap you out of it. You didn’t realized you were about to cross the road with cars driving by and it was Simon’s hand that tugged yours gently, firmly, protectively, lovingly; in the moment you realized he did love you.
“Careful, these drivers are mad driving that fast” he said in his low voice slightly stepping a bit in front of you becoming a shield between you and the road, “let’s wait until the light changes”
