The sky was thick with night, only pierced by stars that speckled the dark canvas.

Draco and you were laid in the grass, and had snuck out of the dormitories to watch the night.

It was peaceful, tender, a rare moment away from the bustle of the school atmosphere. It was nice to have a quiet minute away from Crabbe or Goyle’s incessant pestering, Pansy’s complaining and Blaise’s constant chattering.

Draco liked his time with you- he liked being alone in the grass, laid against your chest and listening to your heartbeat.

Your hand in his hair, Draco gave a sigh. “I would be miserable without you” he whispered rather suddenly, eyes trained on the stars as they kissed the sky.

Draco didn’t know why, but in this moment he felt an overwhelming need to tell you how much you meant to him. How happy you made him. After all, without you, he’d still be that scared little boy he was in his fifth year, terrified to assume the mark and the role of being a dark wizard.

Even despite all that, he was happy. Because he had you.
